UNPUBLISHED:

Unharmed – A normal person in sick circumstances meets the kind of creature that thrives in them.

Phoenix – Ashes are all that’s left inside a concentration camp guard soul, until a woman arrives to remind him why he fell in love with power.

When All Else Fails – June of 1944, and the war’s lost.  Now German Army officers are paying a horrible price to pretend otherwise.

Death Generation – In the tattered, teenage ranks of a 1945 SS battalion, no one’s cooler than the corpses.

Being Here – A son at his father’s deathbed finds life’s tangibles lacking comfort.

A Question of Taste – A young student crushed under depression finds it’s the weightless things that make life worth living.  2nd Kurt Baumann story.

Loss of the Last – In the cradle of the German nation, a weary veteran reflects on the totality of what has been lost and the emptiness of the world to come.

NOVELS:

AVA

“I tell you of The Monster that saves the world.”

Matthew C. Funk has completed his novel, Ava, the story of a schizophrenic serial killer in pre-Katrina New Orleans who strives to save the world. He is seeking representation for this work.

Reaver - Reaver confronts us with the question, “How would an epic hero exist in the reality of the ancient world,” and answers with unflinching courage and detail. In marketing parlance, it is like Robert Graves’ Greek Myths meets Fight Club.

VOR – The Eastern Front of World War II as it really was.  A secret Soviet assault that changed the course of the war.   A hopeless hero out to do the impossible – survive them both with his soul intact.

Soldatenkino – As East Prussia collapses, a young soldier fights to save a maddened humanity he thinks can sink no further.  He is wrong.

Carcosan Design – The secret schemes and true occult practices of the Nazi leadership endanger an unwitting housekeeper’s home and the fate of the entire world in this first volume of the “Kaltenbronn” World-War-Horror Series.

Forest Apparition – The unbelievable and unspeakable explode into the life of a cynical Soviet partisan as his war story is hijacked by an unusual embodiment of the classical hero.

Judgment – An epistolary autopsy of all home front romance.   We follow the life of a war wife as she raises her newborn child in the horrible era that each generation of war wives endures: the worst of times.

Cranston’s Folly – A madman’s legacy is the objective.   The looming landmark mocks and perhaps dooms Sergeant Jon Cranston during the lunatic days of the Normandy invasion.

Outside The Lines – Siegfried von Krieg doesn’t know whether it’s the curse of an ancient alchemical tome killing his fellow mental patients or just the curse of being on psych leave in the German Army.  With saboteurs, fanatical Nazis and his own doctor after him, he better figure it out soon.

Trespass – The death throes of a concentration camp experienced through the minds of the inmates who collide within.

PLAYS:

Common Cents – Three draftees who will never agree.   Two hundred pounds of anonymous gold.  1.5 million Russians coming for them.

Congress of Tigers – Only America can save Ho Chi Minh.   The critical alliance between the US and the Viet Minh is illuminated and shadows of what is to come are cast in this thoughtful and gripping account of Japanese Indochina’s last days.

Forlorn Hope - The most brutal and intense engagement in the most brutal and intense battle in Marine Corps history.  The only screenplay as brutal and intense as it really was.

Bella VistaA 1950s Motel Murder Mystery with a mystical twist that’s the very soul of Film Noir.
A collaboration with Pamila Payne.
